Clear skies welcomed the 18010 spectators who had made their way to Steinbock Arena. Maciek Otworowski was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alak Singh and Keld Jeslund. Battle started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. Starters: Merişescu - Ledea, Lanzani, Carmignani, Buendgens - Radu, Aikema, Rovira, De Loreto, Jakowitsch - Wellisch.

Viktoria decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Moreira - von Uslar, Bugorskiy, Kelemen - Grass, Karkavilas, Mesquita Ferreira, Chavet, Hamdan - Spinelli, Diekmann.

The referee signaled a penalty for the home side after 6 minutes, amid vocal protests from the visitors. Battle fans erupted in celebration as R. Rovira rifled the ball into the the top corner. 1 - 0! With 21 minutes played, Battle's C. De Loreto almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. With 24 minutes played, R. Rovira could have brought this one home for Battle as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 32 minutes, Y. Karkavilas broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper. A. Merişescu made a great block, though. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Battle enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

M. Lanzani could have put Battle up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 51 minutes. Battle's M. Carmignani had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 59 minutes having been played. S. Berkers was the replacement. 73 minutes into the match Viktoria's L. Diekmann viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card. Battle's B. Buendgens got himself booked for a foul. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Battle scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for I. Aikema after 84 minutes. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Battle, with 52 percent of the ball.

R. Jakowitsch performed admirably for Battle. S. Berkers was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Viktoria player was without a doubt J. Mesquita Ferreira. On the other hand, S. Spinelli's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 0.
