A scorching day at
Biengener Arena, where 20723 spectators were in place for today's match.
Tom Gochnauer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Simon Duvborg and
Petrik Peura.
SVB tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
Lineup: Stiep - Cârpaci, Dunker, Seherer, Poniridis - Kalinski, Ebner, Rottig, Ölçüm, Wunderlich - Linezky.
Hückeltwist started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
They fielded: D'Alessandro - Wohlmuth, Neagu, Eskizengin - de Tocantins, Coughlin, Navarrete, Rengert - Gâscă, Leleu, Buendgens.
SVB were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
A mistake by the home side's central defence after 13 minutes allowed
M. Leleu to score for Hückeltwist. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1.
14 minutes in, Hückeltwist appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
weak.
27 minutes into the game,
M. Coughlin had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
J. Cochet.
A. Wohlmuth's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence.
After a scuffle in the guests' penalty area 29 minutes into the game, the home team was awarded a penalty.
D. Cârpaci scored to make it 1 - 1.
Some great play up the middle by SVB led to a chance for
M. Wunderlich to score after 33 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 40 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
A. Ebner, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
2 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to SVB, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.
The Hückeltwist players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a
passable organisation when the game started again.
SVB put themselves up 3 - 1 when
E. Linezky broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
After 78 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Hückeltwist found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
passable.
SVB claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
SVB's top performer was clearly
B. Kalinski.
However,
A. Poniridis made a disastrous appearance.
Hückeltwist's best player was
D. Navarrete.
M. D'Alessandro on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 1.
