14-07-2012 18.30
Clear skies welcomed the 26601 spectators who had made their way to
Maabärn Offenbach Stadion.
Rudolf Pollard was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jean-Yves Redon and
Farin Heidel.
Offenbach had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Uribe Bernedo - Jokuschies, Radivojević, Tsoleridis - Kolenbrander, Kratz, Doswald, Hormann, Wandzel - Spichern, García de la Vega.
BWJ-soccer tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
The following players took the field: Señorans - Albelda, Hesseling, Curri - Janshen, Buger, Gonnissen, Koot - Ciorbă, Polini, Weis.
A. García de la Vega gave Offenbach the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0
M. Uribe Bernedo's name was chanted throughout the stadium after he made a fantastic save from
T. Ciorbă's shot from the left 25 minutes into the match.
The score became 2 - 0 at 26 minutes into the game, when Offenbach were given a penalty which
D. Kratz blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance!
After 27 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
W. Doswald might have resulted in another goal for Offenbach. However,
A. Señorans made a spectacular save.
2 - 0 was the halftime score.
Offenbach claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Offenbach tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
J. Kolenbrander slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 3 - 0, 67 minutes into the game.
The home side's
R. Spichern came close to extending the lead 72 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
A. Señorans managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
After 73 minutes, the defensive line of BWJ-soccer created a counterattack through the middle that gave
E. Curri a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
The home crowd was silenced as
K. Koot took a successful penalty shot 79 minutes into the game, reducing the home lead to 3 - 1.
81 minutes into the game, BWJ-soccer's attack got through on the right, but
B. Weis couldn't handle the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
A. García de la Vega squirmed through their central defence after 82 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Offenbach, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
Most important Offenbach player was
A. García de la Vega.
However,
S. Wandzel made a disastrous appearance.
BWJ-soccer's top performer was clearly
T. Ciorbă.
A. Señorans on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 1.
