07-07-2012 18.30
31660 punters turned up at
Flora St.Pauli Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Heinz Rey was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Urban Diaz and
Evangelista Eguino.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Flora.
Starters: Quirikó - Niazov, Rebelo, Desplá - Sałasiński, Biron, Semionov, Masala, Üst - Filadelfi, Maes.
Füssen decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Feulner - Torroba, Linken, Weissensteiner - Graves, Scarzanella, Helffenstein, Norder, Anikanopoulos - Kumutat, Muncker.
Flora took the lead 24 minutes in, as
R. Üst broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
Cheers filled the stadium as
C. Rebelo broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Flora.
Flora increased the lead as
D. Filadelfi struck to make the score 3 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 31 minute mark, Füssen's
I. Anikanopoulos hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
It was 3 - 0 at the break.
Flora enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Flora scored another to make it 4 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
C. Rebelo after 60 minutes.
The players of Flora now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
After 72 minutes Flora's
R. Üst contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game.
An accurate cross from
I. Anikanopoulos of Füssen was met with a wonderful glancing header from
N. Kumutat, hitting the inside base of the post before nestling into the back of the net for 4 - 1.
Flora's
R. Üst swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
Füssen were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 83 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to
S. Norder, who smashed it home to make the score 4 - 2.
Füssen's
V. Torroba got himself booked for a foul.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Flora, with 62 percent of the ball.
The most dominating Flora player was without a doubt
M. Biron.
On the other hand,
G. Quirikó's play was disheartening.
Füssen's top performer was clearly
Y. Muncker.
S. Norder on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 2.
