previous 1/10 next 3/10  Zombies 0 - 3 Flora (384414107)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 14858 had shown up at Acker des Grauens for the match. Thomas Keil was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jesse Närvänen and Wilsão Barreiro. Zombies started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Gusenburger - Stramm, Hieracker, Zettner, Mertens - Prutscher, Gödecke, Belz, Schweinitz - Karner, Cappel.

Flora tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Quirikó - Niazov, Rebelo, Desplá - Sałasiński, Biron, Semionov, Masala, Üst - Filadelfi, Maes.

Underestimation of the opposition made Flora players perform way below their normal capacity. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Zombies. Flora's M. Biron could have put the guests one up after 19 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but U. Gusenburger was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. The guests took the lead 21 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in A. Niazov scoring to make it 0 - 1. After 32 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed D. Maes to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2. It was 0 - 2 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Flora, with 71 percent of the ball.

After 65 minutes, W. Hieracker had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Zombies with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. The referee showed Flora's D. Maes the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. D. Gödecke of Zombies had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. G. Distelkamp came in to finish the match. The home crowd cheered when, after 84 minutes, A. Niazov's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. D. Semionov could have put his team up another goal 88 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. With 89 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed D. Filadelfi of Flora to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3. The players of Flora now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Flora claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.

The most dominating Zombies player was without a doubt U. Gusenburger. However, C. Stramm made a disastrous appearance. D. Maes performed admirably for Flora. On the other hand, G. Quirikó's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 3.
