Sande needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. A counterattack by ONTER after 37 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but L. Kronell, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off. Players in Frankfurter heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. It was 1 - 0 at the break. Frankfurter claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.

A great save by keeper P. Deplanque after 50 minutes kept the visitors in the game after Z. Fülöp struck from the left with a real cannonball. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, M. Sande got himself booked. The manager of Frankfurter was not happy. 68 minutes into the game, J. Barrionuevo had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came I. Ljubović. M. Tuneck had a fantastic opportunity to put Frankfurter up another goal 82 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
