It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 15123 that came out to
Suhlgrube.
Hamish Lyon was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ábel Novák and
Che Earl.
Badener tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
The following players took the field: Nilsson - Landazábal, Goldschmid, das Mercês - Tiroler, Selliti, Centeno, Yehezkel - bin Ahmad Shariffuddin, Schmatta, Haadl.
Frankfurter decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Čiháček - Zúñiga Sarmiento, Bartelsen, Bevilacqua, Barrionuevo - Nowopolski, Taborelli, Buttarelli, Chahoushizadeh - Tuneck, Fülöp.
Badener saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
Frankfurter were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
They were singing the praises of
H. bin Ahmad Shariffuddin 5 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Badener.
A great save by keeper
B. Čiháček after 9 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
J. das Mercês struck from the left with a real cannonball.
After 16 minutes, Frankfurter's
G. Taborelli fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
Badener's
S. Selliti swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
After 28 minutes Frankfurter tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately,
G. Bevilacqua's shot sailed wide after his break down the right.
H. bin Ahmad Shariffuddin could have put Badener up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 29 minutes.
Halftime score was 1 - 0.
Frankfurter claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
After 46 minutes, Frankfurter switched
C. Bartelsen with
M. Sande, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
With 71 minutes played, the Frankfurter coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
I. Ljubović came on,
J. Barrionuevo had to leave the fray.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for Badener, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
After 71 minutes,
K. Haadl put Badener ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
After this, you could see that the players of Badener were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Frankfurter needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 78 minutes
Z. Fülöp made way for
L. Conidi.
H. bin Ahmad Shariffuddin found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat.
Badener put themselves up 3 - 0 when
P. Schmatta broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
Frankfurter's
M. Tuneck was shown a yellow card after 82 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Frankfurter's right side looked dangerous after 83 minutes, as
L. Conidi broke through.
V. Nilsson continued to stifle them, however, as he made the save look easy.
Badener increased the lead as
H. bin Ahmad Shariffuddin struck to make the score 4 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
Badener had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.
Most important Badener player was
J. Tiroler.
However,
V. Nilsson made a disastrous appearance.
Frankfurter's top performer was clearly
L. Conidi.
M. Sande was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 4 - 0.
