It was obvious that team adi97 had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. They were singing the praises of X. Foix 12 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 2 - 1 to adi97. Schalke04's M. Vaculík was shown a yellow card after 14 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, D. Kyhltorp got himself booked. The manager of Schalke04 was not happy. P. Moura Sousa was called on to replace Schalke04's A. Georgiev after 32 minutes following a nasty collision. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by adi97, with 60 percent of the ball.

A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of adi97 to 3 - 1 as I. Kalezić finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. At this point, it was obvious that the players of adi97 lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. A.
