Due to an all-day shower, 16949 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
Ricklinger Arena.
Manfred Summerside was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Detlev Vaerten and
Baldo Benvegnù.

The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
K. Rinikger, but the Ricklingen player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
Players in Ricklingen heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
Ricklingen managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when
T. Diouf cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Confident in their lead, Ricklingen's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Ricklingen's
J. Nisstedt was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 24 minutes.
K. Rinikger was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace.

J. Gorostiaga finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the defence.
After 31 minutes,
T. Diouf put Ricklingen ahead 3 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Ricklingen were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
Ricklingen's
A. Tiede increased the lead to 4 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 32 minutes.
The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 1.
Ricklingen claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for Ricklingen, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
Ricklingen increased the lead as
