12635 fans braved the pouring rain at
Estadio da Luz Buchholz.
Arne Eberlein was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Hélder Roma and
Suthiwat Wongsupan.
A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Buchholz.
Starters: Priest - Liias, Wimpassinger, Daniel, Pichelmann, Paulsson - Spoerr, Revheim, Bellmann - Mincone, Pingel.
Pommern had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Lineup: Gstach - Heiland, Hang, Küffner, Markelingerode - Hertner, Plunkett, Pecher, Wolkau - Vetter, Fauland.
After 3 minutes, Buchholz sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
D. Mincone, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 0.
L. Vetter was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions.
After 27 minutes, Pommern's
M. Heiland fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
28 minutes into the game, Buchholz had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
passable.
After 32 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Buchholz found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
passable.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Buchholz scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
M. Wimpassinger after 35 minutes.
Buchholz's
D. Mincone saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 36 minutes.
A. Goldfuß was called on to replace Buchholz's
T. Paulsson after 41 minutes following a nasty collision.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Buchholz had most of the ball, with 75 percent of possession.
The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Buchholz had
solid organisation.
Buchholz managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when
H. Bellmann cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
I. Pecher of Pommern was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
77 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
F. Spoerr broke through, making the score 4 - 0 for Buchholz.
Pommern's
M. Heiland got himself booked for a foul.
The player down was
F. Priest. The Buchholz bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
K. Pingel got himself booked. The manager of Buchholz was not happy.
H. Pichelmann had a fantastic opportunity to put Buchholz up another goal 80 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
W. Küffner, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass.
H. Bellmann increased the lead for Buchholz to 5 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
The players of Buchholz now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
I. Pecher remonstrated furiously with the referee after Pommern had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch.
Buchholz had to make a substitution after 88 minutes.
F. Priest limped off the field and was replaced by
M. Yılmaz.
H. Bellmann's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
D. Mincone was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Buchholz. 6 - 0.
Buchholz's
K. Pingel had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 89 minutes having been played.
F. Rohr was the replacement.
With 89 minutes played, Buchholz put themselves up 7 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
H. Bellmann, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
At that,
H. Bellmann was noted down for a hat trick!
89 minutes into the game, Buchholz seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
inadequate level of organisation.
Buchholz's
O. Liias struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 8 - 0 after 89 minutes.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Buchholz, with 84 percent of the ball.
Most important Buchholz player was
F. Spoerr.
M. Yılmaz was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Pommern player was without a doubt
E. Markelingerode.
J. Gstach on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 8 - 0.
