previous 5/10 next 7/10  Tunesien 1 - 1 Spreewald (384491692)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 21072 that came out to Mittelmeer-Perle. Serge Zadelhof was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jean-Claude Massé and Rickard Ingesson. Tunesien decided to use a 5-3-2 set up. The following players took the field: Limia - Sires, Vişan, Benusch, Monsehr, Glitza - Lukka, Ungern, Schlick - Contreras, Suhrada.

Spreewald tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Velim - Zajc, Vodenicharov, Rabadán - Haitze, Gawryluk, Hărăbor, Leão, Petersgrube - Holubek, Belov.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Tunesien. With 13 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Tunesien resulted in a counterattack that set B. Contreras free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. Spreewald's C. Leão refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 21 minutes. A. Haitze enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again. 31 minutes into the game, C. Leão had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came A. Reihards. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, M. Zajc took over the role of being the Spreewald captain. 37 minutes into the game, F. Petersgrube was a hair's breadth away from giving Spreewald the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by P. Limia saved the home team that time. Tunesien had a chance to take the lead after B. Contreras's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 38 minutes. After 40 minutes a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to Tunesien's M. Sires being carried off the pitch and replaced by U. Osteroth. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Spreewald, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

E. Monsehr showed his inexperience when he failed to anticipate the bounce of a high ball, allowing Spreewald's D. Holubek to take advantage and place a shot into the bottom corner of the goal. 0 - 1. Tunesien's H. Vişan put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 1 - 1 with 87 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock. Spreewald enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

Tunesien's best player was J. Benusch. However, P. Limia made a disastrous appearance. F. Petersgrube performed admirably for Spreewald. On the other hand, A. Reihards's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 1.
