Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Bramsche Arena saw a crowd turnout of 17035.
Herald Knizia-Wendt was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kent Lemström and
Miroslav Bořil.
Bramsche had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Paschke - Menetetter, Hoeft, Stierschneider - Tiedmannsdorff, Pilz, Eiche, Norem, Kipp - Blicharska, Everblom.
A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for HauptsacheGeschwitz.
Lineup: Ruihs - Strobel-Ludwig, Fluhr, Jeppesen, Waldhelm - Brandis, Baserga, Waldstein, Schoeller, Tsioris - Breitwieser.
Bramsche saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
Players in Bramsche heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
The Bramsche free kick 6 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
F. Pilz, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 1 - 0!
F. Pilz had a fantastic opportunity to put Bramsche up another goal 11 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
HauptsacheGeschwitz's counterattacks created a good chance for
W. Breitwieser on the right after 12 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
After 36 minutes,
M. Tsioris sent the corner kick right to
S. Fluhr who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1 - 1!
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
Bramsche had most of the ball, with 71 percent of possession.
Slack defending gave Bramsche a chance to take the lead with 50 minutes played, but
K. Eiche's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
Bramsche had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 57 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
F. Pilz, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
Bramsche's
A. Blicharska increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 69 minutes.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Bramsche lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for Bramsche, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
Possession in this half belonged to Bramsche, who controlled the ball 72 percent of the time.
The most dominating Bramsche player was without a doubt
F. Pilz.
J. Paschke on the other hand, had a terrible day.
HauptsacheGeschwitz's best player was
F. Ruihs.
However,
P. Jeppesen made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 1.
