Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Kaiserberg Arena saw a crowd turnout of 11502.
Franz Pütlich was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Daniel Alejandro Nordman and
Martín Fasha.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Nordrhein-Westfalen derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Duissern decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Marttonen - Spona, Treu, Peene - Schwerdtfeger, Jacobson, Knispel, Segl, Römisch - Henderson, Mitzlaff.
Europe had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
Lineup: Hochleitner - Pałucki, Krile, Rager - Sihvonen, Stenersen, Nilsson, Goszczycki - Dużyk, Skácel, Vieira Batista.
J. Stenersen sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
C. Nilsson after 2 minutes of play, making the score 0 - 1.
The home crowd cheered when, after 28 minutes,
M. Sihvonen's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
With 29 minutes played,
T. Spona of Duissern fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
M. Goszczycki increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2.
Confident in their lead, Europe's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
After 31 minutes of game time,
V. Krile had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
V. Marttonen was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner.
Europe's
A. Dużyk got himself booked for a foul.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Europe, with 59 percent of the ball.
After 70 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
C. Nilsson a chance to increase the lead for Europe, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Europe tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
A. Dużyk slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 0 - 4, 83 minutes into the game.
Europe's
L. Rager made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 87 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
The cannonball from 35 metres by
M. Goszczycki of Europe was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net.
Possession in this half belonged to Europe, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
Most important Duissern player was
M. Segl.
A. Knispel turned in a dismal performance, however.
J. Skácel performed admirably for Europe.
However,
L. Rager made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 4.
