Clouds darkened the skies at Champions Park as 17790 spectators turned up for the match. Olgierd Radler was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Raúl Ardilla and Ola Rönngård. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Skydancers. The following players had been chosen: Auväärt - Donner, Casanova, Korner, Büchling - Coulter, Gavros, Vincelot, Crăineanu - Rosenbæk, Bertasi.

1FC.Zabo decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. They fielded: Storkow - Farys, Kahr, Igoshkin, Flodin - Schisslaweng, Bodenstedt, Soutschek, Mendes, von der Goltz - Kraill.

It was an obvious ambition of Skydancers to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. 1FC.Zabo mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. D. Soutschek had a good opportunity to give 1FC.Zabo the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. With 40 minutes played, the excellent ball from the wing by Skydancers's V. Crăineanu reached M. Bertasi's head, and he is not one to miss such an opportunity - 1 - 0. 1FC.Zabo needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 40 minutes K. Bodenstedt made way for H. Dobnigg. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. 1FC.Zabo had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

Although the whole team were struggling to impress, 1FC.Zabo's W. Mendes was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 46 minutes. S. Probian was given a chance to change things around. The home side's A. Büchling came close to extending the lead 51 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but R. Storkow managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. L. Bölling was called on to replace 1FC.Zabo's S. Schisslaweng after 60 minutes following a nasty collision. D. Soutschek behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 68 minutes as he gave the ball away to O. Gavros. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. In a rapid move 76 minutes into the match, L. Bölling of 1FC.Zabo lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked N. Kraill who easily hit it home to make it 1 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! Against a lesser team, 1FC.Zabo could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 77 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. After 80 minutes, the Skydancers coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving M. Bertasi off the field. D. Knüppel took his place. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.

Skydancers's best player was D. Vincelot. However, V. Crăineanu made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating 1FC.Zabo player was without a doubt H. Dobnigg. L. Bölling was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 1.
