Dark skies made the crowd of 11087 at Badenova Stadion a little nervous, but the rain held off. Emmanuel Bacot was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Julio Mansur and János Ballai. Freiburger tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players took the field: Novoa - Ganglmair, Tettamanti, Wissbeck, Klaws - Hoeden, Fölkersamb, Siemssen, Eschbach - Löffler, Hamernik.

Freiburger used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. After 12 minutes, Panschi's J. Iriztain made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, M. Aburto would have put Panschi up another goal 15 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. In a rapid move 19 minutes into the match, L. Eschbach of Freiburger lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked N. Hamernik who easily hit it home to make it 1 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! Panschi took the lead after 26 minutes making the score 1 - 2. A. Fauconnier placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. Given a free kick close to the byline, Panschi tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let K. Guinot slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 3, 27 minutes into the game. The players of Panschi now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. 1 - 3 was the halftime score. Panschi enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.

The coach of Panschi was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes, M. Pietzka came on for V. Mihaylov. M. Pietzka of Panschi received a yellow card after 55 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Panschi came close to extending their lead as R. Wetzk delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 67 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. An amazing free kick flew past the home keeper 73 minutes into the match, putting Panschi ahead 1 - 4. G. De Caro was the scorer. K. Guinot of Panschi was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Panschi's M. Aburto made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 77 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. After 78 minutes of game time, G. De Caro had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but F. Novoa was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Panschi, with 70 percent of the ball.

Freiburger's top performer was clearly N. Hamernik. F. Wissbeck on the other hand, had a terrible day. K. Guinot performed admirably for Panschi. On the other hand, M. Aburto's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 4.
