18-08-2012 18.45
Dark skies made the crowd of 8737 at
Boleslaw-Malinowski-Stadion a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Timon Piubellini was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Klemens Hüttenphul and
Kosmas Kakitsis.
Ethnologia had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation.
They fielded: Gioi - Szappanos, Seeling, Damon, Lacken, Waizman - Mannsfeld, Pintor, Zeulner, Kabinger - Breitbarth.
Daheim tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
Lineup: Tironi - Bócsik, Budek, Alén - Tabak, Ziganda, Zangerl, Piacquadio - Leuna, Guzmán, Heistermann.
Ethnologia were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Daheim mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
28 minutes into the game, Ethnologia seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
poor.
After 33 minutes, Daheim put themselves up 0 - 1, as
V. Guzmán finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
M. Alén increased Daheim's lead to 0 - 2 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner.
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Daheim, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2.
Possession in this half belonged to Daheim, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.
The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Ethnologia had
passable organisation.
The Ethnologia players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
T. Zangerl should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Ethnologia a goal with 68 minutes of the match played.
After 69 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
T. Zangerl a chance to increase the lead for Daheim, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3.
V. Leuna received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 78 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Daheim fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
M. Bócsik was, after 81 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
E. Gioi made the save.
83 minutes into the game,
M. Bócsik had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
S. Saviaro.
With 84 minutes played,
V. Seeling was very close to reducing the score for Ethnologia with a low drive from the left, but a defender stuck his foot out just in the nick of time, blocking the shot to a corner.
Ethnologia's
J. Breitbarth was shown a yellow card after 87 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
After 87 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Ethnologia found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
inadequate.
With the scoreboard showing that 89 minutes had been played, Daheim nearly put themselves up another goal after
V. Guzmán came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save.
Daheim had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
J. Breitbarth performed admirably for Ethnologia.
However,
E. Gioi made a disastrous appearance.
Daheim's top performer was clearly
V. Guzmán.
H. Heistermann was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 0 - 4.
