It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 10544 that came out to
Camp Tod.
Tomas Lewgård was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Einar Grønlie and
Karel Krsek.
Friedhof started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Zehmeister - Bradatsch, Zedlitz, Oguić, Alfaia - Segatori, Rall, Zuylen, Dieplinger - van den Eijnde, Zanola.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Bayer.
The following players took the field: Zinnenburg - Zülow, Hanichl, Waschkut, Streitweiser - Gürbüz, Haderner, Hübler, Kashlev - Gucmirtl, Holtkoetter.
The wings were the focus of most of Friedhof's attacks today.
Players in Friedhof heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
With 4 minutes played
P. Zedlitz almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide.
After 21 minutes,
E. Zanola came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Friedhof the lead.
It was obvious that Friedhof had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
Friedhof solidified their lead at the 34 minute mark, as
T. van den Eijnde dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0.
B. Alfaia's lack of experience almost gave Bayer a goal after 37 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
R. Zuylen increased the lead for Friedhof to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
M. Zülow of Bayer received a yellow card after 41 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Friedhof, with 74 percent of the ball.
The head of
T. van den Eijnde connected with a corner kick after 54 minutes, and the ball ended up with
E. Zanola of Friedhof who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 4 - 0.
Cheers filled the stadium as
T. van den Eijnde broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 0 to Friedhof.
After this, you could see that the players of Friedhof were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Friedhof's
A. Segatori had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 72 minutes having been played.
R. Grebmer was the replacement.
Friedhof had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
With 74 minutes played, Friedhof put themselves up 6 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
P. Zedlitz, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
75 minutes into the game,
B. Haderner had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
T. Klaar.
After 84 minutes, Friedhof sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
J. Dieplinger, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 7 - 0.
Possession in this half belonged to Friedhof, who controlled the ball 68 percent of the time.
Friedhof's top performer was clearly
R. Zuylen.
T. Zehmeister on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The most dominating Bayer player was without a doubt
M. Gucmirtl.
A. Hanichl was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 7 - 0.
