previous 4/10 next 6/10  Drinking 3 - 1 Ottensen (384638036)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 6946 at Alte Försterei today. Ernst Branco was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Bruno Wilke and Corrado Alfano. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Drinking. The following players had been chosen: Paratore - Garrod, Paleologo-Morea, Janda, Wurzer - Pachaly, Elias, Koopmann, Osnabrück - Kovshirov, Čuridlo.

Ottensen tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. They fielded: Farn - van Zijl, Jovanović, Klimmeck, Capursi - Hämmerlein, Lugo, Gilazev, Koschorreck, Trovisco - Chapotot.

With 6 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as H. Garrod flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Drinking put in a good effort on the right, but T. Koopmann saw his volley fly wide of the mark 15 minutes into the game. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Ottensen had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

Ottensen's I. Jovanović got himself booked for a foul. After 69 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and N. Osnabrück gave the Drinking supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. F. Pachaly wanted to play on, but the Drinking coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by N. Vlach. N. Osnabrück left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. R. Lohberger was the replacement. The Drinking players could smell victory in the air. H. Wurzer wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for A. Schasse after 70 minutes. After 72 minutes, Ottensen sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached B. Gilazev, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 2 - 1. With 73 minutes played, F. Čuridlo of Drinking fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. The Drinking free kick 74 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of A. Schasse, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 3 - 1! Confident in their lead, Drinking's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Ottensen enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

Most important Drinking player was F. Čuridlo. On the other hand, H. Garrod's play was disheartening. The most dominating Ottensen player was without a doubt B. Gilazev. However, S. Trovisco made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 1.
