3842 spectators arrived at
SSVG Heiligenhaus Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Konstantin Schwalbach was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ozren Ćirović and
Petko Nikolov.
Heiligenhaus decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
They fielded: Hechendorf - Peschorn, Porezag, Ortenberg, Keusch - Röske, Küppenbender, Klopf, Grenzebach - Deinegger, Stool.
Borussia tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
Lineup: Maischak - Trubel, Schlickeiser, Steinmetz, Metelka - Wolfegg, Mocerino, Esterhammer, Lotusblüte - Bugenhagen, Schuldt.
At the beginning of the game, Borussia appeared to have already taken this victory to the bank.
Borussia's
D. Mocerino gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 15 minutes with a superb strike from the right.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
W. Schuldt from Borussia a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 18 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
W. Schuldt received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 29 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Borussia fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
L. Hechendorf got a fingertip on
D. Mocerino's shot from the left 31 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
D. Mocerino received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 35 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
After 36 minutes, Borussia's
L. Lotusblüte burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3.
Borussia's
D. Mocerino left the field after 37 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
D. Biesinger.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3.
Possession in this half belonged to Borussia, who controlled the ball 70 percent of the time.
The visitors'
W. Esterhammer took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 50 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Borussia.
A quick free kick deep in the opponent's half found
H. Peschorn, who produced a brilliant first touch to send it flying beyond the keeper into the net. This reduced the away team's lead to 1 - 4.
Heiligenhaus had to make a substitution after 54 minutes.
W. Ortenberg limped off the field and was replaced by
S. Steinbichl.
The home crowd was not impressed when
W. Bugenhagen came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 62 minutes. Borussia were now up 1 - 5.
64 minutes in, Heiligenhaus's
M. Keusch received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
65 minutes into the match,
W. Bugenhagen came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
After 66 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
T. Wolfegg who increased Borussia's lead to 1 - 6.
After this, you could see that the players of Borussia were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
N. Schlickeiser came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
L. Hechendorf but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Heiligenhaus's
L. Hechendorf had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 69 minutes having been played.
É. Staretz-Suchacek was the replacement.
Borussia claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 78 percent.
Heiligenhaus's best player was
B. Porezag.
H. Peschorn was a disappointment, however.
J. Trubel performed admirably for Borussia.
P. Metelka turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 6.
