previous 3/10 next 5/10  Seybo 2 - 1 Baddi (384755250)

11978 punters turned up at City Ground, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Ulf Meitner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Carlos Maidana and Pertti Häyrynen. Seybo tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Lineup: Laaser - Tüze, Jopp, Šimičić, Altengamme - Konopal, Schellendorf, Heidler, Darabos - Zunner, Viefhaus.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Baddi. The following players took the field: Prosser - Karp, Grundmann-Hügel, Dal, Volkring - Ropohl, Kosler, Prankerhelm, Marabelli - Osteroth, Maizner.

Seybo took the lead after 8 minutes as a result of U. Schellendorf's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. Jopp from Seybo a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 34 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Baddi's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 38 minutes gone, but M. Maizner's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Baddi claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

Seybo increased the lead as N. Zunner struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. As K. Darabos had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the Seybo player a red card without batting an eyelid. With 72 minutes played, F. Dal of Baddi fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. The corner kick from M. Karp was powerfully met by the head of F. Dal to make the score 2 - 1. Baddi enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

Seybo's best player was N. Zunner. A. Tüze was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Baddi player was without a doubt S. Marabelli. T. Prosser turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
