The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 11977 had shown up at FSV Arena for the match. Henrique Morais was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Waimiria Loftus and Frede Behrendt. L. Jarić's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert A. Vinnhorst was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Marcel. 1 - 0. Santafu levelled the score after 28 minutes to make it 1 - 1, as R. Thalauer struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked. Santafu's R. Thalauer could have put the guests one up after 30 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but M. Lieskounig was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. After 31 minutes, Santafu put themselves up 1 - 2, as C. Balseven finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. Halftime score was 1 - 2. Santafu claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 62 minutes, Santafu did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, R. Thalauer was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 1 - 3. An indecisive keeper looked on as a free kick by Santafu's E. Marburger put the visitors up 1 - 4 after 66 minutes. 75 minutes into the game a free kick by E. Marburger found its way through the home side's poorly assembled defensive formation, making Santafu's lead 1 - 5. Confident in their lead, Santafu's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Santafu had to make a substitution after 78 minutes. S. Holschbach limped off the field and was replaced by R. Rosenberg. With 82 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Marcel resulted in a counterattack that set H. Schellbruch free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. A penalty was awarded after 84 minutes, and E. Marburger made the most of his chance to put Santafu up by another goal. 1 - 6 for the visitors. At that, E. Marburger was noted down for a hat trick! Santafu had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

Marcel's best player was L. Jarić. W. Taubeneck turned in a dismal performance, however. Santafu's top performer was clearly R. Rosenberg. D. Schleevogt on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 6.
