Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and FC G-Town saw a crowd turnout of 5753. Jasper Ramer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Daniel Popescu and Nicola Iamele. T. Ostermeier's speed was clear to see after 5 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released Ö. Nevair who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 0 - 1. Ö. Nevair came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over B. Sackersdorff but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, S. Wutzel got himself booked. The manager of GTB was not happy. A wonderful trick by K. Tünnef that left W. Hamer bewildered really deserved to end in a goal but the keeper made a fine save. GTB put pressure on the visitors' central defence 35 minutes into the game, but K. Tünnef couldn't find an opening. E. Kustusz received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 37 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. After 39 minutes Bamberg's D. Bomberini contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. K. Tünnef charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for GTB, but the shot went well wide of the goal. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave J. Reimling from GTB a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 41 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! GTB's R. Mückenheim made an attempt at equalising 43 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. Coming in from the right, Bamberg had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 44 minutes, but L. Freund's attempt to finish was easily stopped. With 44 minutes played, K. Tünnef of GTB fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to GTB, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

53 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when GTB's J. Reimling received his second yellow card and was sent off. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 72 minutes, Bamberg tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish. After 74 minutes, Bamberg's T. Ostermeier fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! After 81 minutes of game time, Ö. Nevair had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but B. Sackersdorff was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by GTB, with 52 percent of the ball.

Most important GTB player was R. Mückenheim. On the other hand, B. Rieks's play was disheartening. Bamberg's top performer was clearly Ö. Nevair. However, G. Lempfert made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 1.
