Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 33268 to
Yggdrasil.
Werner Rainer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Edward MacEvoy and
Ruggiero Boehr.
Vikings decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Helbock - Büchel, Marxer, Gwender - Mühle, Goebel, Fischer, Siggelkow, Werner - Kaufmann, Fehr.
Unterland tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
They fielded: Mella - Maasen, Näscher, Looser, Zimmermann - Kieber, Frick, Wanger, Hörndlinger - Bolettieri, Looser.
A foul after 5 minutes resulted in a free kick.
P. Werner cannonballed it, giving the home team the lead 1 - 0.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
J. Mühle squirmed through their central defence after 9 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
Vikings solidified their lead at the 17 minute mark, as
S. Fehr dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Vikings to 4 - 0 as
J. Gwender finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
After this, you could see that the players of Vikings were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Cheers filled the stadium as
E. Kaufmann broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 0 to Vikings.
The teams went for the halftime break at 5 - 0.
Vikings enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 84 percent of possession.
Vikings increased the lead as
J. Gwender struck to make the score 6 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
S. Fehr had a fantastic opportunity to put Vikings up another goal 62 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Vikings scored another to make it 7 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
J. Gwender after 73 minutes.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
J. Gwender.
After 78 minutes of play, Vikings's
J. Gwender unexpectedly struck an inside out ball from no angle at all and
E. Kaufmann slotted it into the net for 8 - 0.
Vikings managed to extend their lead to 9 - 0 when
T. Fischer cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
A well placed corner kick from
P. Werner was followed by
T. Fischer's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Vikings, the score now 10 - 0.
With 88 minutes played, Vikings put themselves up 11 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
S. Fehr, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
Vikings had most of the ball, with 88 percent of possession.
The most dominating Vikings player was without a doubt
P. Werner.
E. Helbock was a disappointment, however.
Unterland's top performer was clearly
I. Looser.
On the other hand,
N. Looser's play was disheartening.
The match ends 11 - 0.
