Unterland 0 - 4 Mauren
(384879041)

04-08-2012 19.50
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 12000 at
Unterland USV Arena today.
Timo Mäenpää was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Bill Persson and
Ben Meier.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Mauren derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Unterland started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Starters: Mella - Maasen, Näscher, Looser, Zimmermann - Kieber, Frick, Wanger, Hörndlinger - Bolettieri, Looser.
Mauren tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Frick - Simelbauer, Güler, Dirksen, Schurte - Plüss, Becker, Franken, Müllhaupt - Feiersinger, Durrer.
6 minutes into the match Mauren's
S. Simelbauer couldn't take advantage of the penalty kick to put his team up by a goal.
Against a lesser team, Mauren could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 15 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save.
0 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Mauren enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.
48 minutes into the game,
T. Güler almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
The guests took the lead 50 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
G. Feiersinger scoring to make it 0 - 1.
The Mauren free kick 57 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
D. Dirksen, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 0 - 2!
The home crowd cheered when, after 72 minutes,
D. Durrer's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
After 76 minutes, Mauren raised their score by one when
P. Plüss's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by
D. Durrer. 0 - 3.
After 77 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
A. Schurte a chance to increase the lead for Mauren, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 4.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Mauren, with 58 percent of the ball.
The most dominating Unterland player was without a doubt
I. Looser.
N. Looser was a disappointment, however.
Most important Mauren player was
D. Durrer.
D. Dirksen on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 4.
