Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Royal Suite Stadion - Zürich saw a crowd turnout of 50000. Some great play up the middle by Runners led to a chance for A. Mariategui to score after 17 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. The corner kick from B. Ludewig was powerfully met by the head of R. Ifrach to make the score 1 - 0. The Georg's J. Andriessen got himself booked for a foul. M. Goovaarts unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Z. Gobeaux could have increased the lead after 37 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. After 41 minutes Runners's A. Mariategui limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Runners put themselves up 2 - 0 when Z. Gobeaux broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Runners enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

After 60 minutes, K. Giraudet put Runners ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. After 65 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by The Georg was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. Runners's M. Goovaarts had an excellent opportunity after 67 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 77 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving O. Düring completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side's keeper. Runners had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

The most dominating Runners player was without a doubt I. Schweitzer. A. Mariategui was a disappointment, however. The Georg's top performer was clearly O. Düring. K. Ahmatov turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
