previous 8/10 next 10/10  Sfc 1 - 2 Torperdo (384892245)

Due to an all-day shower, 28502 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Signal Iduna Park. Jakob Jørgensen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Per Bredal Nielsen and Sibrand van Baren. Sfc had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Starters: Koburger - Gaitán, Hayes, Germonas - Iribi, Van Ooteghem, Winkler, Böhler - Guliokas, Kubath, Nooitmeer.

Torperdo decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Fournaratos - Rotter, Reppert, Acúrsio - Zane, Upson, Razi, Sigfússon, Murillo - Gattiker, Audet.

Sfc used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when R. Gattiker slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against L. Koburger, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. F. Murillo slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. P. Rotter gave the visitors the lead 31 minutes into the match to make it 0 - 1. The goal was scored from the penalty spot after a handball in the penalty area. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Sfc, with 53 percent of the ball.

R. Gattiker looked to be heading one way when he unexpectedly passed the ball to P. Zane. The move caught everyone off-guard, including his teammate, who panicked and kicked the ball out of play by accident. No matter how hard he tried, A. Guliokas just couldn't get his shot past the visitors' right side defence after 67 minutes. Sfc's D. Winkler was shown a yellow card after 71 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 72 minutes into the game, Torperdo worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. H. Kubath was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Sfc's G. Germonas managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 1 - 1 After 81 minutes, the Sfc coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving F. Gaitán off the field. V. Giganti took his place. Torperdo's E. Audet gave the visitors a 1 - 2 lead after 81 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Torperdo had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

H. Kubath performed admirably for Sfc. I. Iribi turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Torperdo player was R. Gattiker. F. Murillo was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
