Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
FC Siegerstrasse Arena saw a crowd turnout of 32574.
Livio Celani was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mathias Gropp and
Enzo Facciolo.
Siegerstrasse tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Lineup: Rescio - Stegmeier, Binkerhoff, Bracken - Eliasen, Otsuka, Borgognoni, Ibarria, Oosterveld - Bladmar, Floerkemeier.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Breganzona.
Starters: Geadas - Riannetti, Di Dato - Kleibl, Ignácz, Zygart, Caron, Mikola - Konopka, Erting, Di Pierdomenico.
Breganzona took the lead after 2 minutes making the score 0 - 1.
E. Erting placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
An indecisive keeper looked on as a free kick by Breganzona's
A. Ignácz put the visitors up 0 - 2 after 9 minutes.
Confident in their lead, Breganzona's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
J. Kleibl made a nice dash down the wing after 24 minutes, but was unable to get the cross into the box. A goal kick was awarded.
Siegerstrasse refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle,
Y. Otsuka managed to slip the ball home for 1 - 2.
After 29 minutes Breganzona's
I. Geadas limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
Siegerstrasse equalised after 30 minutes after a brilliantly placed penalty by
M. Borgognoni.
32 minutes into the match and the home team took a 3 - 2 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Siegerstrasse was
G. Stegmeier.
It was 3 - 2 at the break.
Possession was split evenly between the teams.
With 55 minutes played, Siegerstrasse's
G. Binkerhoff almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
The Siegerstrasse players could smell victory in the air.
Y. Otsuka wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
A. Werthemann after 65 minutes.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
M. Borgognoni from Siegerstrasse a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 65 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Breganzona's
A. Ignácz went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention.
M. Borgognoni increased Siegerstrasse's lead to 4 - 2 with a penalty spot cannonball.
After this, you could see that the players of Siegerstrasse were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
P. Caron caused mayhem in his own defensive line with some mad dribbles within his own penalty zone, but Siegerstrasse's
I. Oosterveld's shot went just wide.
Possession in this half belonged to Siegerstrasse, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.
Most important Siegerstrasse player was
M. Borgognoni.
I. Oosterveld turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Breganzona player was without a doubt
L. Konopka.
However,
A. Ignácz made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 4 - 2.
