23-06-2012 19.15
40553 spectators had come to
Manfred Pellmann Memorial this cloudy day.
Gunnar Rubin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Manole Sandu and
Henrik Klinworth.
Wallisellen tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Deiter - Noya, Pernwerth, Cimignolo, Buerki - Lazarević, Hundertwasser, Leubnitz, Tandian, Hafizović - Hertzler.
Wallbach decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Lineup: Leks - Arpasi, Cirinnà, Glita, Oliveira - Batista, Lauer, Lipták, Davison - Meles, Modenato.
This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when
M. Meles slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against
T. Deiter, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 26 minutes into the match, and
B. Davison wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
After 32 minutes,
D. Tandian got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away.
W. Pernwerth of Wallisellen was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
Halftime score was 0 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Wallisellen, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.
Always quick and a menace to his opponents,
B. Hafizović was very close to getting through after 53 minutes, but he could only put the ball into the keeper's arms.
The coach of Wallbach was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 65 minutes,
S. Rubli came on for
M. Meles.
A penalty was awarded after 72 minutes, and
B. Davison made the most of his chance to put Wallbach up by another goal. 0 - 2 for the visitors.
E. Lauer left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 73 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
J. Kante was the replacement.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Wallbach lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 74 minutes, Wallisellen tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Wallbach coach let
P. Pescarmona replace
M. Batista after 75 minutes.
Wallisellen claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
The most dominating Wallisellen player was without a doubt
P. Cimignolo.
B. Hafizović turned in a dismal performance, however.
J. Leks performed admirably for Wallbach.
E. Arpasi on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 2.
