04-08-2012 19.15
Dark skies made the crowd of 47071 at
The Lions Park a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Stephan Eggemann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Maynard Levi and
Hugo Pucher.
Lions tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
Starters: D'Elia - Dahlbruch, Franssens, Burger - Daher, Häggbrant, Fluri, Pérez - Eckhoff, Zanzottera, Hugelshofer.
Fcl1901 started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
They fielded: Loichot - Lemke, Weisshaar, Stickelmaier - Rivaben, Sıtkı, Emídio, Maehder - Oland, Ivanc, Gjestvang.
Lions took the lead after 16 minutes as a result of
G. Zanzottera's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0.
Lions solidified their lead at the 19 minute mark, as
G. Zanzottera dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0.
After 36 minutes of play, Fcl1901's
T. Oland unexpectedly struck an inside out ball from no angle at all and

39 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
L. Eckhoff broke through, making the score 3 - 1 for Lions.
Lions had to make a substitution after 40 minutes.
C. Fluri limped off the field and was replaced by
S. Bire.
Lions increased the lead as
K. Hugelshofer struck to make the score 4 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
By now, the players in Lions felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
A great save by keeper
L. Loichot after 43 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
L. Eckhoff struck from the left with a real cannonball.

C. Franssens after 71 minutes following a nasty collision.
After 83 minutes, Lions sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
K. Hugelshofer, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 6 - 1.
After 84 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
F. Burger gave the Lions supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 7 - 1.
Cheers filled the stadium as
G. Zanzottera broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 8 - 1 to Lions.
At that,
G. Zanzottera was noted down for a hat trick!
Fcl1901's
S. Ivanc got himself booked for a foul.

The most dominating Lions player was without a doubt

S. Bire on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Fcl1901 player was
T. Oland.
A. Emídio turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 8 - 1.
