Dark skies made the crowd of 35818 at 100% Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Bogdan Diaconescu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Stig Kujamäki and Micke Tuvquist. 1.Fc tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Buśko - Cristea, Calomfirescu, Fushtica - Doubravský, Ardoni, Mathiasson, Chevalier, Foussard - Hatife, Budzyn.

With 8 minutes played, E. Isaksen of limouzion fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. 1.Fc had to make a substitution after 11 minutes. E. Foussard limped off the field and was replaced by R. Horký. J. Budzyn seems to have an uncanny ability to try the unusual. He nearly produced a great goal - unfortunately for 1.Fc his shot went just wide this time. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 29 minutes, 1.Fc did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, R. Horký was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 1 - 0. 1.Fc's A. Cristea was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 34 minutes. A spectacular volley from R. Horký almost resulted in a goal, but a good save from the keeper kept it out, and A. Hatife could only knock the loose ball wide. L. Moldes of limouzion received a yellow card after 40 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. 1.Fc had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.

After 49 minutes, J. Budzyn sent the corner kick right to E. Ardoni who headed it sharply past the keeper. 2 - 0! At this point, it was obvious that the players of 1.Fc lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, limouzion's A. El-Fassi was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 59 minutes. A. Rolfini was given a chance to change things around. B. Chevalier could have increased the lead after 69 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. limouzion needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes T. Di Franco made way for D. Speakman. After 70 minutes, limouzion switched E. Isaksen with A. Lefèvre, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. The referee showed 1.Fc's R. Horký the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 1.Fc claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

G. Calomfirescu performed admirably for 1.Fc. R. Horký was a disappointment, however. limouzion's top performer was clearly J. van Basten. On the other hand, A. Zagarrio's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 0.
