previous 4/10 next 6/10  Blacki 4 - 1 Glarus (384909522)

The 22742 fans in attendance at Blacki United Arena were roasting in the hot sun. Viktoras Kaminaroglou was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Juan José Fuente and Tayfun Asaf. Blacki started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Olsson - Silfwergård, Kotyla, Suchorowski - Kögl, Bergo, Petersen, Behm, Roche - Crego, Mostarda.

Glarus tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Vestuti - Lausen, Haslimeier, Settelen - Pietronero, Dellenbach, Volmert, Schricker, Regard - Egloff, Pereira.

Blacki created a good opportunity to score 14 minutes into the match when S. Mostarda's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. The referee showed Blacki's K. Kögl the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Glarus had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 25 minutes in when C. Haslimeier came up alone against B. Olsson who managed a block. 31 minutes into the game, F. Pereira almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Glarus's L. Schricker placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but E. Egloff couldn't finish. D. Behm's lack of experience almost gave Glarus a goal after 35 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. Blacki broke through on the left 37 minutes into the game, with J. Roche firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. Glarus were close to putting the equaliser away after 38 minutes as the opposing defence lost control of the ball to F. Pereira in a scuffle towards the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the dead ball line. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.

E. Crego increased the lead for Blacki to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Blacki's D. Suchorowski increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 67 minutes. With 70 minutes played, the Glarus coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. S. Stoev came on, C. Haslimeier had to leave the fray. After 70 minutes Blacki's B. Olsson limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their E. Egloff reduced the lead to make it 3 - 1 after 74 minutes, following a pass from the right. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Glarus's A. Lausen was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 75 minutes. P. Vollmer was given a chance to change things around. After 81 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and E. Crego gave the Blacki supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1. By now, the players in Blacki felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Glarus enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

The most dominating Blacki player was without a doubt E. Crego. S. Mostarda was a disappointment, however. Most important Glarus player was L. Schricker. However, A. Settelen made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 1.
