previous 3/10 next 5/10  Elysée 1 - 1 ABS (384938268)

Dark skies made the crowd of 40957 at US Elysée Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Mats Pettersson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alexander Epple and Fredd von Eynern. Elysée decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Bulte - Angst, Ricart, Velay - Tabini, Bleuse, Gherzi, Pisani, Lyka - Caetano, Cadonau.

ABS started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. Lineup: Läubli - Tschan, Rapp, de Blas, Pero - Duchatelet, Tonolla, Skinder, Mägi, Próspero - Tschirren.

G. Próspero's speed was clear to see after 8 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released M. Tschirren who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 0 - 1. After 38 minutes, M. Pisani got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. Elysée's P. Caetano made a successful breakthrough on the left after 39 minutes and should have levelled the score, but instead he clipped it over the bar. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Elysée, with 62 percent of the ball.

Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Elysée manager used a brief break in play after 46 minutes to give the players new directives. Elysée's M. Pisani made an attempt at equalising 49 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. The coach of ABS was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 50 minutes, J. Daimer came on for M. Tschirren. Always quick and a menace to his opponents, G. Próspero was very close to getting through after 53 minutes, but he could only put the ball into the keeper's arms. The Elysée players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. The Elysée coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy. 87 minutes into the match, Elysée's M. Velay maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 1 - 1. Elysée enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

The most dominating Elysée player was without a doubt N. Cadonau. B. Ricart on the other hand, had a terrible day. V. Skinder performed admirably for ABS. However, G. Próspero made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 1.
