31209 fans braved the pouring rain at FC Miraculoso Arena. Guy Schmittbuhl was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jari Munck and Eran Rom. Miraculoso started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Olofsson of Miraculoso received a yellow card after 4 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Miraculoso managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when E. Ciesielski cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Miraculoso scored another to make it 3 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for J. Nordås after 9 minutes. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Miraculoso lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. E. Mandorlato did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. 35 minutes into the game, Basel's attack got through on the right, but F. Koot couldn't handle the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms. 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Miraculoso, with 57 percent of the ball.

E. Ciesielski's curling free kick almost found the goal for Miraculoso, but the visitors' keeper somehow managed to get ahold of it. Č. Kovačka looked like he could fly, as he rose high to head the ball. Unfortunately for Basel, the ball went just barely wide. Basel's D. Knecht was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 60 minutes. Miraculoso increased the lead as I. Olofsson struck to make the score 4 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Basel will have to do without E. Mandorlato for a time, due to a bad foot injury at the 81 minute mark. He was substituted by M. Gusmeroli. Miraculoso claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.

Most important Miraculoso player was B. Šnajder. C. Frazão was a disappointment, however. Basel's top performer was clearly B. Morandi. However, Č. Kovačka made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 0.
