Lorraine 4 - 1 Kikers
(384940742)

07-07-2012 19.15
Clear skies welcomed the 35242 spectators who had made their way to
Lorraine Sportive Arena.
Mario Pezzuto was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ciprian Popescu and
Bakhtyar Keshavarz.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Bern derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Lorraine had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Lineup: Descombes - Blanc, Friezner, Fackler - Baber, Pillet, Sulser, Jegge, Pizzolante - Perler, Rusch.
Kikers started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Starters: Dalca - Hampl, Lamprecht, Happart - Piau, Zaghoueni, Cabra, Poch, Kalchenko - Sârbu, Castelos.
With 4 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience,
K. Lamprecht needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed.
A mistake by the home side's central defence after 30 minutes allowed
S. Castelos to score for Kikers. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1.
Lorraine's
M. Blanc put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 1 - 1 with 38 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock.
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.
The counterattacks of Lorraine were deadly and 53 minutes into the game,
J. Perler received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 2 - 1.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Lorraine to 3 - 1 as
P. Rusch finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
G. Fackler from Lorraine a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 68 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
K. Descombes made a brilliant save 70 minutes into the match, blocking a rocket of a shot from
A. Poch on the right hand side.
Lorraine solidified their lead at the 73 minute mark, as
J. Perler dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 1.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Lorraine lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Lorraine enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.
Lorraine's top performer was clearly
P. Rusch.
However,
G. Friezner made a disastrous appearance.
Kikers's best player was
A. Cabra.
H. Piau turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 4 - 1.
