previous 10/10 next 2/10  XS 3 - 3 Entenhausen (384955937)

It had rained all day, but 33473 hardy fans still made it out to X X X. Diego Trochón was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Humbert Arnecke and Kalev Ess. XS had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Fotopoulos - Fauth, Pilot, Bonacci - Bodeck, Simmons, Dufour, Bison, Hedrick - Runkle, Mistiri.

Entenhausen tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Ebejer - Welge, Sinnema, Olivier - van Oers, Piralli, Reemer, Roche, Bousi - Crupi, Hacker.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for XS. Given a free kick close to the byline, Entenhausen tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let G. Hacker slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 0 - 1, 2 minutes into the game. The Entenhausen free kick 22 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of T. Crupi, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 0 - 2! XS's O. Simmons got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 1 - 2. After 32 minutes of play, M. Runkle evened things up for XS with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 2 - 2. 2 - 2 was the halftime score. Entenhausen claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.

Entenhausen took the lead 50 minutes into the game, making the score 2 - 3 after some elegant movement down the middle. G. Hacker was the scorer. XS almost scored after a swift counterattack 53 minutes into the game, but J. Fauth put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal. The home crowd cheered when, after 57 minutes, M. Piralli's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. Entenhausen's M. Piralli got himself booked for a foul. XS's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing M. Runkle to score easily from the right flank for 3 - 3. Entenhausen had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

XS's top performer was clearly J. Pilot. S. Dufour turned in a dismal performance, however. Entenhausen's best player was G. Hacker. R. Bousi was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 3.
