Clear skies welcomed the 29024 spectators who had made their way to
Stingray United Arena.
Kerewin Stavasius was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Juan Francisco García de Zuñiga and
Ángel Báez.
Stingray started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Juon - Kirkpatrick, Detournay, Mabes - Rilke, Darier, Mazzarotto, Marcum, Marin - Stutz, Frey.
Barca*4* had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
Lineup: Calderón - Pindars, Kesserling, Kaser - Jenal, Negrin, Luca, Molzen - Clerc, Aldrich, Streun.
E. Aldrich acted with superior experience when, 19 minutes into the match, he predicted a pass, intercepted it and then finished off with a goal. 0 - 1 for Barca*4*!
The crowd chanted their encouragement as Stingray's
P. Marin came in from the right after 33 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 1 - 1.
34 minutes in, Barca*4*'s
F. Negrin received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
The corner kick from
H. Darier was powerfully met by the head of
J. Kirkpatrick to make the score 2 - 1.
Stingray's
G. Stutz swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
Halftime score was 2 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Stingray, with 70 percent of the ball.
After 54 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
T. Rilke might have resulted in another goal for Stingray. However,
I. Calderón made a spectacular save.
C. Clerc of Barca*4* was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
C. Clerc made a run for the goal 64 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Stingray's
G. Stutz increasing the lead to 3 - 1.
Stingray put in a good effort on the right, but
J. Kirkpatrick saw his volley fly wide of the mark 83 minutes into the game.
Stingray enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 73 percent of possession.
The most dominating Stingray player was without a doubt
H. Darier.
K. Mabes was a disappointment, however.
Most important Barca*4* player was
C. Clerc.
A. Pindars turned in a dismal performance, however.
