It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 12000 that came out to Die Höle des Löwen. Mats Liedskär was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Raúl Laval and Brian Steen Bech. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this Aargau derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. "FC.Gujin" had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Pagà - Bürkel, Dergias, Mazeira - Herschi, Maraschin, Turon, Kulstrunk, Breton - Wind, Baron.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for GC.. The following players had been chosen: Riess - Hacquard, Dorn, Ketler - Strobl, Hermange, Testoni, Wullimann, Meunier - Lahrman, Eger.

"FC.Gujin" were relying on their ability to counter-attack. The guests almost went up by a goal after 6 minutes when S. Dorn came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. Down the middle came T. Meunier, making a fantastic play that nearly had GC. take the lead after 13 minutes, but D. Pagà preserved the tie. After 14 minutes, GC. put themselves up 0 - 1, as K. Ketler finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. With 19 minutes played, G. Lahrman nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. GC. claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.

O. von Bonin was called on to replace GC.'s M. Hacquard after 55 minutes following a nasty collision. M. Bürkel didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play. R. Eger of GC. took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 64 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 2. 68 minutes into the game, S. Testoni had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came R. Fröhli. F. Hermange could have put his team up another goal 72 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. B. Dergias hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving "FC.Gujin"'s G. Maraschin an easy chance to knock it in for 1 - 2. "FC.Gujin"'s M. Bürkel was shown a yellow card after 74 minutes for slicing down an opponent. GC. enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.

"FC.Gujin"'s top performer was clearly T. Baron. However, M. Bürkel made a disastrous appearance. Most important GC. player was G. Lahrman. F. Riess turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
