21-07-2012 17.00
Clear skies welcomed the 23119 spectators who had made their way to
zum rauchenden Gewächshaus.
Volkan Ural Eşref was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jacek Widliński and
Lauri Allinen.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Paradise.
They fielded: Razzante - Madsen, Viachorka, Warta - Merle, Netzle, Mennessier, Queirós, Klamm - Pullinen, Elizondo.
MUCF started off with a 4-3-3 lineup.
Lineup: Fatine - Cocca, Stryffler, Amin, de la Rama - Beidler, Zuberbühler, Magyar - Boytsov, Reynolds, Heinola.
17 minutes into the game,
E. Boytsov almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
After 29 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Paradise was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options.
Paradise took the lead 32 minutes in, as
C. Queirós broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
Paradise managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when
P. Pullinen cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
After 37 minutes MUCF's
J. Heinola contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by MUCF, with 53 percent of the ball.
52 minutes into the game MUCF managed a counterattack, but
J. Heinola took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper.
MUCF had a magnificent opportunity after 64 minutes as
A. de la Rama hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
M. Viachorka from Paradise a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 72 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
M. Amin of MUCF had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game.
C. Simonet came in to finish the match.
With the clock showing 79 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of MUCF resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
T. Reynolds in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high.
O. Madsen of Paradise seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 3 - 0 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
F. Merle.
The referee showed MUCF's
A. de la Rama the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
MUCF's
L. Zuberbühler was shown a yellow card after 84 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
After 85 minutes Paradise's
C. Klamm limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.
Paradise's best player was
M. Viachorka.
However,
C. Elizondo made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating MUCF player was without a doubt
L. Zuberbühler.
T. Magyar was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 0.
