Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
LosannArena saw a crowd turnout of 37490.
Avichay Ginat was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Argiris Kouvarakis and
Mikael Eriksson.
Jimezzi started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Martin - Bologni, Gautier - Aeschbacher, Dusen, Cerrato, Karer, Reinegger - Paepke, Stater, Orton.
Wartenfels tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
The following players took the field: Riecke - Sailer, Jacober, Grisotomi, Hirschi - Riehtmann, Stochaj, Dumas, Marinis, Wojtkun - Corciulo.
Jimezzi seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
M. Jacober hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Wartenfels's
U. Grisotomi an easy chance to knock it in for 0 - 1.
The crowd roared in delight as
P. Paepke finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for Jimezzi 31 minutes into the match. 1 - 1.
Some great play up the middle by Jimezzi led to a chance for
O. Dusen to score after 32 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
After 40 minutes,
S. Bologni came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Jimezzi the lead.
Cheers filled the stadium as
P. Paepke broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 1 to Jimezzi.
3 - 1 was the halftime score.
Jimezzi enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.
F. Orton wanted to play on, but the Jimezzi coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by
R. Riesen.
54 minutes in, Jimezzi's
L. Karer received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
In a fantastic display of determination, Wartenfels's
E. Sailer forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down.
A. Cerrato received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 64 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
R. Riesen squirmed through their central defence after 69 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 1.
D. Wojtkun of Wartenfels received a yellow card after 73 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
P. Paepke should probably have put his team up another goal after 79 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
S. Riecke kept the visitors in the game.
H. Reinegger increased the lead for Jimezzi to 5 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Jimezzi lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Jimezzi increased the lead as
P. Paepke struck to make the score 6 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
By then
P. Paepke had scored three goals - a hat trick!
R. Riesen had a fantastic opportunity to put Jimezzi up another goal 86 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
Y. Corciulo got himself booked. The manager of Wartenfels was not happy.
Jimezzi claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.
Most important Jimezzi player was
P. Paepke.
On the other hand,
O. Dusen's play was disheartening.
Wartenfels's best player was
Y. Corciulo.
S. Riecke was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 6 - 1.
