Gillibrand cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Verein. With 40 minutes played, J. Vaubourg of Verein fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. It was 1 - 2 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Verein, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

With 72 minutes having been played, Härter scored to make it 2 - 2. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but N. Ramić was marked down as the scorer. A penalty was given after 74 minutes, allowing the visitors to gain the lead: 2 - 3. O. Ivgy was the scorer. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave G. Nisii from Härter a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 79 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The Härter equaliser came after 81 minutes when N. Ramić floated in a free kick making the score 3 - 3. F. Chaves's lack of experience almost gave Verein a goal after 84 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. Verein enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

Härter's best player was N. Ramić. J. Löw turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Verein player was J. Paxleben. However, O. Ivgy made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 3.
