The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 36377 had shown up at
Stadium of Northern Darkness for the match.
Renaud Assouline was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Utku Peksoy and
Samuel Girouard.
Immortal decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Ahava - Ayık, Antonsen, Frau - Paski, Kottermair, Kuitunen, Lavonen, Dürrmüller - Sáez, Bănuţă.
GP started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Rękoś - Ponneso, Malpica, Pekkala - Krabbe, Villar, Liiri, Argo, Sangot - Sadovnic, Sutera.
GP were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
Immortal took the lead after 5 minutes as a result of
R. Bănuţă's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0.
The home team will be cursing
A. Sadovnic for weeks; he finished off a great pass from the left, knocking it past the keeper without a problem. The match was level at 1 - 1 after 27 minutes.
Immortal's
A. Kottermair tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
GP's
Y. Villar left the field after 32 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
B. Drulović.
B. Detournay was called on to replace Immortal's
T. Paski after 37 minutes following a nasty collision.
1 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Immortal, with 68 percent of the ball.
Immortal could have put themselves ahead after 47 minutes but
R. Bănuţă missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
R. Bănuţă scored for Immortal putting them ahead 2 - 1, after 55 minutes.
GP had a magnificent opportunity after 74 minutes as
B. Sangot hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide.
After 75 minutes,
L. Dürrmüller put Immortal ahead 3 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
GP's
O. Krabbe was shown a yellow card after 78 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
V. Sáez squirmed through their central defence after 80 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 1.
Confident in their lead, Immortal's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Immortal claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.
Immortal's top performer was clearly
R. Bănuţă.
However,
V. Kuitunen made a disastrous appearance.
Most important GP player was
N. Sutera.
On the other hand,
O. Krabbe's play was disheartening.
The match ends 4 - 1.
