51774 spectators arrived at
Stadium of Northern Darkness, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Einar Grønvold was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Fausto del Castillo and
Antonio Bonafonte.
Everyone was excited about the upcoming
Espoo derby and the crowd was divided evenly.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Immortal.
They fielded: Ahava - Ayık, Linnig, Frau - Detournay, Kottermair, Kuitunen, Lavonen, Dürrmüller - Sáez, Bănuţă.
Terzi decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Wellens - Jäderholm, Sima, Barendregt - Marbjerg, Konttinen, Rapo, Myllykangas, Braia - Reusser, Arcan.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Terzi.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
G. Frau, but the Immortal player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
With 5 minutes played, Immortal put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
P. Lavonen, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
B. Detournay increased the lead for Immortal to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Immortal lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
The crowd was amused as
R. Bănuţă of Immortal used a few interesting tricks and dribbles to get into the penalty box. The finish by
B. Detournay wasn't very amusing, however, as the ball flew way over the crossbar.
Immortal put themselves up 4 - 0 when
J. Linnig broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
It was 4 - 0 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Immortal, with 64 percent of the ball.
E. Sima really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by
T. Konttinen after a corner.
The home team's fans were upset when, after 65 minutes, the visiting
T. Konttinen broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 4 - 1 was the score.
Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Immortal's
B. Detournay somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for
R. Bănuţă, who struck for 5 - 1.
88 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
B. Detournay broke through, making the score 6 - 1 for Immortal.
Possession in this half belonged to Immortal, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.
Most important Immortal player was
R. Bănuţă.
On the other hand,
J. Linnig's play was disheartening.
Terzi's best player was
G. Braia.
N. Marbjerg on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 6 - 1.
