previous 5/10 next 7/10  Partizan 6 - 0 Kone (385510563)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 33406 to L.I. Brežnev Memorial Arena. Joakim Rutte was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Yann Indermaur and Jesper Riga. Partizan started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Baronti - Hulpiau, Metsemakers, Niiranen - Clapp, Tali, Rajala, Saltzberger, Marski - Håkansson, 德泰 (Detai).

A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Kone. The following players had been chosen: Öövel - Tikkanen, Andreasson, Yrjänen - Pohlenz, Halkonen, Raivo, Uuttu - Saraliotis, Granot, Kurikka.

Partizan tried to focus their attacks down the middle. J. Tarhanen was called on to replace Kone's V. Uuttu after 11 minutes following a nasty collision. Partizan fans held their breath as M. Håkansson scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! R. Clapp's experience almost gave Partizan a goal after 15 minutes but the keeper made a great save. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Partizan's P. Marski increasing the lead to 2 - 0. 32 minutes into the game, R. Raivo had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came S. Asko. The Kone captaincy was handed to J. Kurikka. After 37 minutes, M. Håkansson sent the corner kick right to T. Rajala who headed it sharply past the keeper. 3 - 0! A. Öövel was caught napping as M. Håkansson lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms. Halftime score was 3 - 0. Partizan enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 72 percent of possession.

It was obvious that team Partizan had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. 58 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as R. Clapp broke through, making the score 4 - 0 for Partizan. The players of Partizan now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Partizan's L. Saltzberger saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 64 minutes. M. Håkansson almost put Partizan ahead another goal when he curled a free kick over the defensive wall and almost into the net, but the visitors' keeper got there just in time to knock it wide. After 83 minutes, Partizan sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached 關. 德泰 (Detai) , who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 5 - 0. After 88 minutes, P. Marski put Partizan ahead 6 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Partizan claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 73 percent.

The most dominating Partizan player was without a doubt M. Håkansson. P. Niiranen on the other hand, had a terrible day. Kone's best player was J. Kurikka. A. Öövel was a disappointment, however. The match ends 6 - 0.
