previous 1/10 next 3/10  KINEC 0 - 4 Hoppet (385511292)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 19062 had shown up at Kinec Bernabéu for the match. Petter Högsten was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Francisco Alcaraz Casademunt and Chiel Suij. KINEC started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. They fielded: Oloritz - Ruud, de Waal, Kaukosuo - Paccottelli, Iturbust, Stapfer, Grimberg - Birling, Nybergh, Rosenström.

Hoppet had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: Wessling - van Doesburg, Ilg, May, Ciosk - Sanchiz, Süeda, Portabales, Herédio - Valpreda, Kalervo.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for KINEC. Today, Hoppet's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. The guests took the lead 12 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in C. Ilg scoring to make it 0 - 1. B. Valpreda increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from C. Ilg after 24 minutes, and prevented Hoppet from going up another goal. After 25 minutes, M. Ruud had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for KINEC with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. Hoppet's L. Herédio left the field after 26 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was J. Alén. With 27 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed M. Süeda of Hoppet to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3. The players of Hoppet now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. 29 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 4 as P. Portabales finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4. Possession in this half belonged to Hoppet, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

The crowd groaned when V. Birling, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to reduce the deficit for KINEC. The referee showed KINEC's C. Paccottelli the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Hoppet's J. van Doesburg had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 87 minutes having been played. W. Fiedor was the replacement. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Hoppet, with 57 percent of the ball.

L. Nybergh performed admirably for KINEC. M. Ruud was a disappointment, however. Most important Hoppet player was M. Süeda. On the other hand, W. Fiedor's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 4.
