(385549550)

11-08-2012 20.10
24931 fans braved the pouring rain at
Au Arena.
Mirosław Wydro was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Hans Kjellsson and
Espen Svendsen.
Au started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Starters: Ihalainen - Alasalmi, Ojantaus, Theisen - Haque, Mikkilä, Varmanen, Metsovuori, Pohjansalo - Saba, von Essen.
nelssonin decided to use a 3-4-3 set up.
They fielded: Willy - Jurvakainen, Hirthammer, Fanfara - Jankkila, Sardinha, Aichinger, Solano - Janhonen, Reisch, van Hamburg.
The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 1 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
M. Saba, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
Au managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when
N. Haque cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
By now, the players in Au felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
After 7 minutes,
N. Haque put Au ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
M. Saba squirmed through their central defence after 8 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0.
M. Saba could have put Au up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 12 minutes.
4 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Au, with 70 percent of the ball.
nelssonin needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 52 minutes
D. van Hamburg made way for
A. Passalacqua.
S. Varmanen could have increased the lead after 56 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
Au's
J. Ojantaus got himself booked for a foul.
The home side's
T. von Essen came close to extending the lead 74 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
O. Willy managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
S. Metsovuori from Au a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 78 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Au's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 86 minutes gone, but
T. Pohjansalo's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper.
It was a bad day for the usually speedy
T. Pohjansalo. The mud seemed to slow him down.
T. Pohjansalo should probably have put his team up another goal after 88 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
O. Willy kept the visitors in the game.
Au claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.
Most important Au player was
M. Saba.
V. Ihalainen was a disappointment, however.
nelssonin's best player was
E. Janhonen.
However,
J. Jurvakainen made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 4 - 0.
