previous 2/4 next 4/4  Fire 0 - 3 AsteriX (385812609)

It had rained all day, but 26865 hardy fans still made it out to Βαρέσαμε διάλυση Arena. Theo Gropius was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Micha Foltz and Andrea Rossi. Fire decided to use a 5-5-0 set up. The following players had been chosen: Tricot - Mejani, Kaganowicz, Mähdorn, Lucini, Hashemi - Tousi, Sidarovich, Tassiopoulos, Zambata, Goldbrich -.

AsteriX tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Lineup: Lazaridis - Aubert, Tulensalo, Boisseau, Skjødt - Frank, Juhász, Marcucci, Lancashire - Manderscheid, Daniel.

Fire immediately set off using their skill at pressing their opponents. J. Tulensalo had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of AsteriX's K. Juhász after 7 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. L. Boisseau spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch. V. Sidarovich was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on! Fire's V. Sidarovich refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 29 minutes. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to AsteriX, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

E. Lucini received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 55 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. AsteriX's S. Manderscheid made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 68 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. With 71 minutes played, V. Skjødt nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. AsteriX's J. Tulensalo was shown a yellow card after 81 minutes for slicing down an opponent. A drive down the left side allowed S. Manderscheid to get in close and score another goal for AsteriX after 83 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 2. After this, you could see that the players of AsteriX were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. After 84 minutes, AsteriX's V. Skjødt burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by AsteriX, with 57 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Fire player was without a doubt E. Tricot. P. Goldbrich was a disappointment, however. AsteriX's best player was K. Juhász. T. Aubert on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 3.
