Grave 1 - 3 ASOAMA (385863585)

Clear skies welcomed the 30505 spectators who had made their way to FC Grave Arena. Francisco Luís Comodoro was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Lev Minenko and Thomas Strohmayer. Grave had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: Cvjetović - Kohm, Ganborena, Aas - Mikkonen, Scocchi, Larsen, Fournie - Veyssière, Gely, Biret.

ASOAMA started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. Starters: Boucard - Pierron, Folliot, Vasseur, Lucot, Dufour - Desclaux, Hérault, Thouret - Mandon, Braun.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of ASOAMA. After a fine move down the middle T. Fournie nearly gave the home side a goal after 16 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. A well placed corner kick from C. Dufour was followed by F. Lucot's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for ASOAMA, the score now 0 - 1. Grave had to make a substitution after 37 minutes. T. Cvjetović limped off the field and was replaced by G. Dorel. G. Vasseur finished off the counterattack of ASOAMA from the left rather easily, making the score 0 - 2. Grave had a magnificent opportunity after 41 minutes as T. Fournie hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide. C. Desclaux was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from ASOAMA's defence 43 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 0 - 3. P. Folliot of ASOAMA was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Halftime score was 0 - 3. Grave enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 77 percent of possession.

After 49 minutes H. Kohm could have reduced the lead with a blistering strike from the left wing, had it not been for an excellent block by the visitors' keeper. After 50 minutes, ASOAMA were awarded a free kick as their counter attack broke down. The set piece was lifted over the top, intended to open up the defence. However, the target man seemed to be taken by surprise, and could not reach the ball before it crossed the line for a goal kick. ASOAMA's G. Vasseur was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 53 minutes. Grave's T. Fournie cut towards the middle after 58 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, reducing the lead to 1 - 3. ASOAMA's C. Desclaux got himself booked for a foul. Grave claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 75 percent.

The most dominating Grave player was without a doubt R. Biret. G. Dorel turned in a dismal performance, however. ASOAMA's best player was M. Braun. G. Thouret was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 3.
