gloubaglop were relying on their ability to counter-attack. It was an obvious ambition of Botafogo to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. After 9 minutes, Botafogo's K. Cissoko made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. With 19 minutes having been played, gloubaglop scored to make it 1 - 1. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but N. Sachsenhausen was marked down as the scorer. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 25 minutes, Botafogo did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, J. Eskelin was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 1 - 2. After 27 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave S. Ciss a chance to increase the lead for Botafogo, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3. Confident in their lead, Botafogo's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. 37 minutes into the match, gloubaglop's Ð. Mraović collected a ball sent down the right and put it in the back of the net, narrowing the score to 2 - 3. Players in Botafogo heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. The home crowd was not impressed when J. Eskelin came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 38 minutes. Botafogo were now up 2 - 4. It was 2 - 4 at the break. Botafogo enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

After 73 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed K. Cissoko to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 2 - 5. The home team's supporters got excited again when L. Piscaglia broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their keeper off guard, making it 3 - 5. The counterattack by gloubaglop resulted in a free kick that T. Boaghe bent under the crossbar - 4 - 5! M. Carcel of Botafogo was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish I. Wildenhein, which resulted in a goal making the score 4 - 6. Botafogo's R. Trochet made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 87 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. After 89 minutes, T. Ögeday had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for gloubaglop with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Botafogo, with 58 percent of the ball.

gloubaglop's best player was N. Sachsenhausen. B. Otaner was a disappointment, however. Botafogo's top performer was clearly K. Cissoko. On the other hand, F. Bustos's play was disheartening. The match ends 4 - 6.
