The 42693 spectators at
Quinson Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Thorsten Tusch was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Guido Viviani and
Olivier Marazzi.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Quinson.
The following players took the field: Gaudin - Sassi, Deneuve, Cauliez - Godet, Gomes, Duchêne, Gallart, Boully - Laby, Boudry.
gloubaglop tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
Starters: Otaner - Ögeday, Wildenhein, Céspedes, Lobeira - Mraović, Elmakayes, Breiner, Kutluata - Boaghe, Sachsenhausen.
For their match strategy, gloubaglop had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
The head of
N. Sachsenhausen connected with a corner kick after 15 minutes, and the ball ended up with
T. Elmakayes of gloubaglop who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 0 - 1.
L. Céspedes was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from gloubaglop's defence 27 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 0 - 2.
After this, you could see that the players of gloubaglop were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
S. Kutluata's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence.
J. Laby charged down the left and looked sure to score for Quinson 39 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide.
After 40 minutes, following yet another great corner,
V. Boully's flick on at the near post reached
L. Deneuve, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick.
With 41 minutes played,
J. Laby was very close to reducing the score for Quinson with a low drive from the left, but a defender stuck his foot out just in the nick of time, blocking the shot to a corner.
Quinson reduced the lead to 1 - 2 with 43 minutes on the clock when
R. Godet got the best of a ball floated in from the left.
Quinson put pressure on the visitors' central defence 44 minutes into the game, but
J. Laby couldn't find an opening.
The crowd gasped as
M. Lobeira of gloubaglop was flattened by an opponent after 44 minutes and had to be carried off.
J. Hanet came in off the bench.
Halftime score was 1 - 2.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Quinson, with 63 percent of the ball.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 50 minute mark, Quinson's
F. Gallart hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
A quick counter attack by gloubaglop forced the opponent's defender to give away a freekick.
T. Boaghe was allowed to take it quickly by the referee, much to the dismay of the goalkeeper who wasn't prepared. 1 - 3!
A marvellous Quinson effort on the right-hand side resulted in a goal after 63 minutes by
L. Deneuve, making the score 2 - 3.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
J. Hanet was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 66 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
73 minutes into the match, Quinson's
L. Deneuve maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 3 - 3.
The referee showed Quinson's
C. Sassi the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Some great play up the middle by Quinson led to a chance for
J. Gomes to score after 77 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
gloubaglop almost scored after a counterattack 78 minutes into the match, but
T. Boaghe took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net.
Quinson enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.
P. Boudry performed admirably for Quinson.
G. Duchêne was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating gloubaglop player was without a doubt
J. Breiner.
However,
J. Hanet made a disastrous appearance.
