Dark skies made the crowd of 38849 at Freegom Stadium a little nervous, but the rain held off. Mohamed Linlund was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Srećko Ognjanović and Matthieu Laporte. FreegomFC tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. AthleticoLeo started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Teles Costa - Jagtenberg, Stöckli, Clément - de Gerlache, Zenzerović, Robin, Romero González, Klamm - Kryski, Karlsberg.

The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave J. Jagtenberg from AthleticoLeo a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 16 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! FreegomFC took the lead after 27 minutes as a result of R. Maandag's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. AthleticoLeo had a chance to level the score as A. Kryski suddenly found himself free in the middle of the box with only the keeper to beat, but he misjudged the finish, and only managed to hit the bar. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by J. Clément. At last, AthleticoLeo's E. Klamm was able to backheel the ball in. 1 - 1. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. FreegomFC enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to R. Maandag, but the FreegomFC player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! With 67 minutes played, the AthleticoLeo coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. R. Clark came on, F. Zenzerović had to leave the fray. A. de Gerlache became the new AthleticoLeo captain. The home side's H. Duhamel came close to extending the lead 76 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but J. Teles Costa managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. After 78 minutes, following yet another great corner, A. Boukadida's flick on at the near post reached L. Raffin, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick. With 83 minutes played, FreegomFC's V. Soikka almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Possession in this half belonged to FreegomFC, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

FreegomFC's top performer was clearly B. Le Clerc. A. Boukadida turned in a dismal performance, however. AthleticoLeo's best player was P. Romero González. However, J. Clément made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 1.
